Soapbox:
K3WWP - Although I finished the challenge as of July 17, I tried to do my usual thing of late and see if I could replace the W/VE calls with DX calls to have another all-DX alphabet challenge. That E76BARDF station was a big help so far. However, I didn't quite make it this month. I came up one S and 7 N's short. DX has been a bit sparse this month with the SF mostly in the 80's or low 90's at best. My DX streak even ended at 121 days when I didn't work any DX on the 26th.

W9UX - This is the first Challenge I've entered. I enjoyed working the different stations to complete the Challenge. 72, Terry NAQCC #33

N8XMS - Let me try to write this with a bit of a dramatic flare. I woke up Sunday morning, the 31st needing three more letters - E, H, and R. E and H came quickly with a couple of QSOs right after breakfast. Then it was time for church and I figured that I would be able to easily finish off the R in the afternoon. After lunch I started to tune up and down the bands actively hunting for the R. Conditions weren't great but I did find quite a few them. But every one was involved in one contest or another so I had to just keep moving on! A half hour quickly turned into more than two hours of frustration. With some social obligations scheduled for the late afternoon and evening, time was quickly running out. Then with about 10 minutes to go I came across a strong signal from KZ8R finishing up a QSO with VE3FIT. I waited until they signed with each other and sent a 2x3 call to KZ8R - nothing. I then sent a 3x3 call to him and I pumped my fist in the air as I started to hear a reply coming back. But it wasn't KZ8R, it was VE3FIT! Well, we had a nice chat, my time ran out, and I'm one letter short! Oh well, there's always next month! 73, Paul

VE3FUJ - I could not make all the words as I had a too short supply R - M- and F's bummer that. Once I got into it I liked it just the right amount of challenge for me. I had an over supply of Vee's but none were needed, I don't suppose John would let me save them????????? NOT. anyway it was fun as usual. Brion

WB0QQT - Just couldn't seem to bag those S's and R's this month. Still a lot of fun to try though. Steve/WB0QQT/0292

K1IEE - Enjoy the word challenges. Thanks. 73 Dick

W2JEK - It was a good challenge. Used 24 callsigns of which 22 were dx and two U.S. one being N3AQC, the NAQCC club station on a portable operation. 72 and 73 Don Younger W2JEK #1135

PREMISE:
This is the month Americans honor and celebrate the history of our wonderful country with parades, flag flying, fireworks, and the like. So this traditional alphabet-type challenge deals with terms relating to such celebrations.

TIME FRAME:
The first day of the month 0000Z through the last day of the month 2400Z

RULES:
Simply make all the words in the list below from the calls of stations you work to master the challenge. NO contest or sprint QSO's allowed. QSO's must be made using CW and QRP.

FIREWORKS
SPARKLERS
CHERRY BOMB
SMOKE BOMB
PICNIC
INDEPENDENCE
WASHINGTON
JEFFERSON
ADAMS
FRANKLIN
FOURTH

For reference, the following 22 letters are contained somewhere in the words:
A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O P R S T U W Y

You can use each letter in a call TWICE. For example you could use K3WWP for 2 K's, 4 W's, and 2 P's.

Subsequent QSO's with the same station cannot be used for additional letters. For example, no matter how many times you work K3WWP, you can only use his call for 8 of the letters in the words.

See the Alphabet Tutorial page for an excellent way to track any and all of our alphabet type challenges.

AWARDS:
A certificate goes to anyone making all the words.

PARTICIPATION AWARD AND WEB LISTING:
To get a Participation Point and to be listed in the results you must make at least one word.
