Look forward to the next Challenge. W9UX: I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving. 72, Terry K3WWP: Took some 3-4 days to get the final M to complete the challenge. Seems like there is always one stubborn letter in every alphabet challenge. But I guess that is why they are called challenges. If they were too easy, what would we call them - CINCHES, PIECES OF CAKE, EASIES? I just love these alphabet challenges, and I'm delighted Tom WY3H 'invented' them for the NAQCC. WN0WWY: This is my first challenge and it was enjoyable. "N" was the first letter logged and the last "S" was the last letter to be logged. You wouldn't think an "S" would be last letter to finish the list. The propagation gods deemed it so.... Hope to do more in the follwing months. Thanks Dale KD0V: John had a problem with "M". My problem letter this month was "I". 30 QSO's and 7 days between my last two "I's". It took 72 QRP QSO's this time. What was really surprising was over half of them were 2 way QRP. There are so many stations operating QRP now, as compared to a year ago. They were all over the bands not just on the QRP calling frequencies. I am looking forward to the End of the World Challenge in December. KB1PBA: I thought for sure dear Priscilla was out to get me. I had completed the task but for the eight Ls. I can't count the times that an L bearing call refused to acknowledge my frantic reply to his CQ or the number of times a really strong L just went QRT after an interesting QSO with another ham! But persistence paid off. Great fun! N8XMS: As always, this was a lot of fun. It took me a long time to track down all of the L's that I needed. I guess that was appropriate as we approach the season of NOEL! (Sorry, I couldn't resist the pun!) Happy Holidays to everybody. 73, Paul - N8XMS K1IEE: Another great challenge. Hard to believe the year is passing. Hope its not the last one and we all have a chance to make the 2 contacts per day in December. Thanks to all 73 Dick K1YAN: That last Y was tough to come by, but dumb luck prevailed. Had the rig on low in the background while on the internet and KB3AAY showed up on frequency. Happy holidays to all and to all good DX. KH6OZ: Its been a while since I've done a challenge. The XYL was gone almost the whole month which gave me lots of time to work on the challenge. Finished just in time, 73s VE3FUJ: Again this month I wasn't able to find enough time to complete the Challenge. Should improve as the snow starts to pile up and the temp drops. Looking forward to that, and the mW Sprint in December. Brion 3011 W2JEK: MISSED MILES STANDISH. THOUGHT I HAD ENOUGH LETTER "I'S" BUT FELL SHORT. HAD ALL THE OTHERS. WAS FUN ANY WAY. 72 AND 73 DON YOUNGER W2JEK # 1135 PA7PYR: Nice challenge.Almost all on 30m with my FT817 and home made Hy endfet antenna ,one qso with my pixie 250mW on 80m (PA0GKO). Tnx and all the best in the next year. Rien PA7PYR PREMISE: This is the 9th running of our popular Thanksgiving challenge. This was our very first challenge back in 2004 when challenges were still called events. Back then all you needed to do was make the word TURKEY to master the event. Each November since then we've come up with a slightly different word list of items relating to Thanksgiving for you to complete. So make plans now, set up your check sheet and go to it. TIME FRAME: The first day of the month 0000Z through the last day of the month 2400Z RULES: Simply make all the words in the list below from the calls of stations you work to master the challenge. NO contest or sprint QSO's allowed. QSO's must be made using CW and QRP. THANKSGIVING PRISCILLA MULLINS TURKEY MILES STANDISH PLYMOUTH ROCK JOHN ALDEN MAYFLOWER For reference, the following 22 letters are contained somewhere in the words: A C D E F G H I J K L M N O P R S T U V W Y You can use each letter in a call TWICE. For example you could use K3WWP for 2 K's, 4 W's, and 2 P's. Subsequent QSO's with the same station cannot be used for additional letters. For example, no matter how many times you work K3WWP, you can only use his call for 8 of the letters in the words. See the Alphabet Tutorial page for an excellent way to track any and all of our alphabet type challenges. AWARDS: A certificate and Participation Point go to everyone making all the words and submitting their report before the deadline. A Participation Point goes to everyone making at least 1, but not all the words and submitting their report before the deadline. PRIZES: Some challenges involve a prize. Check the Prize page in the main section of the webs site for more info. LOGS: For your report, list the words you made and the station used for each letter in the word. The number of stations listed must be the same as the number of letters in each word, even though you use the same station for more than one letter as in: WORD - K3WWP, N2OD, WA8REI, N2OD Note how N2OD is listed for both the O and D. You may also include comments about the challenge. Please preface any comments you want posted with "SOAPBOX:" so we will know what you want posted and what is private. Send your results to: E-mail: ![]() You must type that address into your email program. Subject must read: (your call) NAQCC (month) Challenge For example: K3WWP NAQCC February Challenge Postal mail: Hap - K7HAP 8532 Canterbury Dr. Annandale, VA 22003 All entries must be RECEIVED before the 10th of the following month at 2400Z. |
