ND9M: There were a couple days with really good band conditions that opened up the DX door. Combining that with having just put up a new OCF dipole, this challenge was completed a lot faster than I expected.
K3WWP: This one was fairly easy. I didn't really have to go hunting for letters - they just kind of came along naturally as I worked stations during the month. Even the last letter (V) came without any great delay after the first 84 letters were captured. I just happened across EA8/DL7VOA on 30 meters the evening of the 15th, and that completed the challenge when I worked him easily. I'm always a bit disappointed along with being satisfied when I complete a challenge. I enjoy the hunt so much that the completion is kind of a letdown in a way. But there's always a new challenge coming next month.
W2JEK: THIS WAS A LOT OF FUN. USED 20 OUT OF 23 QSO. LAST LETTERS WERE THE "E'S 72 AND 73 DON YOUNGER W2JEK #1135
WU1V: It took a while to round up all the E's! G's were a challenge too, for me anyway. Most of my Qs were DX this time as I had the ulterior motive of doing the European Chapter Challenge as well (I finished it also). Very enjoyable Challenge. Very creative theme. Thanks to the folks who thought this up. I had lots of fun. 72, Rick
N8XMS: Where is K3WWP when you need him?!?! It took me all month to find that "P". I finally worked WD4PYT on the 28th to finish it up. It was a lot of fun. 73, Paul - N8XMS
K1IEE: At one point during the month I thought completing this challenge would not happen. Band conditions seemed very quiet again. However I did manage to catch a few good moments when 15M and 20M were really good. The letter E was my last one to get and found that to be a challenge by itself. Had a great time with HW-9 @ 4W and OCF dipole. 73 K1IEE
VE3FUJ: This month I did a little better I missed one R and one L just ran out of time. Brion
AB9YC: I came up short on operating time this month, and couldn't complete my last few letters. Maybe next month...
Last year we used dog names and cat breeds for two of our alphabet challenges and earlier this year fish species. In keeping with the fish/animal theme, this month it's wild beasts names.
The first day of the month 0000Z through the last day of the month 2400Z
Just make ALL the following words from the letters in the call signs of stations you work:
The 25 different letters involved are: A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O P R S T U V W X Y Z
You can use each letter in a call TWICE. For example you could use K3WWP for 2 K's, 4 W's, and 2 P's.
Subsequent QSO's with the same station cannot be used for additional letters. For example, no matter how many times you work K3WWP, you can only use his call for 8 of the letters in the words.
See the Alphabet Tutorial page for an excellent way to track any and all of our alphabet type challenges.
A certificate and Participation Point go to everyone making all the words and submitting their report before the deadline.
A Participation Point goes to everyone making at least 1, but not all the words and submitting their report before the deadline.
Some challenges involve a prize. Check the Prize page in the main section of the web site for more info.
For your report, list the words you made and the station used for each letter in the word. The number of stations listed must be the same as the number of letters in each word, even though you use the same station for more than one letter as in:
WORD - K3WWP, N2OD, WA8REI, N2OD
Note how N2OD is listed for both the O and D.
You may also include comments about the challenge. Please preface any comments you want posted with "SOAPBOX:" so we will know what you want posted and what is private.
Send your results to:
