Soapbox:
K3WWP: I got the first 59 letters before our N3A parkpedition, then finished up the last 13 letters from stations I worked during the parkpedition. It was nice to sneak in a QSO with CY0P when he just started a 30 meters session. I had no idea Sable Island was so in demand. The pileups were (are) awesome with 3-4 kHz wide blocks of stations just above his frequency. Looked very interesting on the panadapter - almost like a big wide square wave. G100RSGB helped out with a lot of letters. A rough count shows about 25 stations worked to complete the challenge. Now I can concentrate on finishing the NAQCC European Chapter challenge. It hasn't been too easy working Europe so far this month, mainly because I'm usually busy during the current best times around 1800Z or so. Thanks to all for the challenge QSOs.

KE7LKW: QRP, 40m cf zepp and 80m cf zepp inv vee.

N8XMS: I really enjoy these alphabet challenges. This one was fairly easy to complete. 73, Paul - N8XMS

AB9YC: This was a challenging one for me this month as time was at a premium. I managed a few good sessions with only one letter to go and hit a wall. However, a good band opening on 20M and I closed out my list for this month, and a good thing too, because I won't be able to operate again until Sweepstakes. I can't wait until next month's challenge.

ND9M: Operating QRP while mobile is a real challenge. It didn't help that I discovered a crack in the casing of my 40M resonator that allowed rainwater to get in early in the month which made the band all but unusable for several days. Still, the fun is in the chase even if the weapons aren't available!

K1IEE: Good challenge as always. This is the second challenge I have found the letters I and E hardest to find. HW-9 @ 4W and OCF dipole. 73 K1IEE Dick

WU1V: Took me most of the month since I didn't operate for much of the first week and much of my activity was sprints which don't count. Due to a rush of 10M DXing I was able to complete the challenge 2 days ahead of the deadline. Good mix of US and DX stations. Prop to Europe on 10M has been good of late. Had fun as usual. 72, Rick

KC9SNC: It was another fun challenge even though I was unable to complete it. I got a late start this month and came up short on the letter S. I'll try again in November. 72/73 Don

GM0DKK: I enjoyed the challenge but found it difficult getting the required letters to make up all the works, but perseverance paid off. 73 Arthur

N1NUA: This challenge was so much fun. It was my first one and I can't wait to start the November challenge. Joan

W2JEK: THIS WAS A GOOD CHALLENGE AND A LOT OF FUN. USED 22 DX STATIONS AND N3A, THE NAQCC ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL EVENT STATION. MY LAST LETTER WAS 'Y' WHICH WAS ALSO THE LAST ONE ON THE LIST.

VE3HNE: This one was lots of fun but I ran out of time. As family activits in this month, but I will have more time for the November challenge and will be using a Hw-8 @ 2 watts. Walt

PREMISE:
Well it's October and naturally (other than the NAQCC anniversary month) that means Halloween. So we challenge you to make words related to Halloween.

TIME FRAME:
The first day of the month 0000Z through the last day of the month 2400Z

RULES:
Just make ALL the following words from the letters in the call signs of stations you work:

GOBLINS
COSTUMES
GHOSTS
CARVED PUMPKIN
CANDY
TRICK
TREAT
WITCH
FRIGHT
JACK O LANTERN

The 23 different letters involved are: A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O P R S T U V W Y

You can use each letter in a call TWICE. For example you could use K3WWP for 2 K's, 4 W's, and 2 P's.

Subsequent QSO's with the same station cannot be used for additional letters. For example, no matter how many times you work K3WWP, you can only use his call for 8 of the letters in the words.

See the Alphabet Tutorial page for an excellent way to track any and all of our alphabet type challenges.

AWARDS:
A certificate and Participation Point go to everyone making all the words and submitting their report before the deadline.

A Participation Point goes to everyone making at least 1, but not all the words and submitting their report before the deadline.

PRIZES:
Some challenges involve a prize. Check the Prize page in the main section of the web site for more info.

LOGS:
For your report, list the words you made and the station used for each letter in the word. The number of stations listed must be the same as the number of letters in each word, even though you use the same station for more than one letter as in:

WORD - K3WWP, N2OD, WA8REI, N2OD

Note how N2OD is listed for both the O and D.

You may also include comments about the challenge. Please preface any comments you want posted with "SOAPBOX:" so we will know what you want posted and what is private.

Send your results to:

E-mail: pix_email_k7hap (1K)

You must type that address into your email program.

Subject must read: (your call) NAQCC (month) Challenge

For example: K3WWP NAQCC February Challenge

Postal mail:
Hap - K7HAP
