Soapbox:
AB9YC: With 10 A's, 11 O's, and 11 R's, I thought this would be a tough challenge. It turned out that the O's were the problem for me or I would have completed this challenge in the first week. Instead, I was stuck needing 5 O's for the longest time. I kept putting calls in the log, but none had any needed letters. With Field Day and W1AW/9 on the horizon, I was worried how much longer it would take needing only a few more O's. Then, bang, I closed it out in about 30 minutes, half way through the month. What a relief. I never know which letter will be the most difficult, and it seems to change each month - that's what makes these challenges so much fun for me. I look forward to next month so it can start all over again.

K3WWP: The letter R struck again this month. I don't know how many challenges have been slowed by a search for that letter. It took about a week to get the last couple Rs to finish up. It was great to honor the United States Armed Services along with other Allied forces with this challenge.

PA0XAW: Again a nice challenge! Worked some special event stations, commemorating the first and second WW. Next challenge I will use my old HW-8 so I can use more bands (now only 40 and 20 meters with my QRP home made rigs).Best 73

WBOPYF: June Challenge was a great topic, a tribute to our greatest generation. Thank you for your sacrifice NAQCC #3092, Ray

KD0V: June D-Day Word Challenge was a real challenge. We had thunder storms for QRN, we Solar and magnetic storms for everything from no skip to very long skip. A few DX stations really helped. To top everything off, I have had a very busy work schedule. 72, Merlin

SM5MEK: This month was hard, lots of R for example, but always giving an motivation to carry on with the traffic.

F5MNK: Not easy, this month to obtain all the words. Best 73. LO

K1IEE: Greet word challenge again. Thanks to all 73 Dick

N1DN: This was my first challenge. Most words came pretty quickly early in the month. Finding all the Rs was a little harder. That final T was the most difficult! WA4FAT in Birmingham, AL came to my rescue. I had a lot of fun and plan on participating regularly. I finished up on Friday, right before Field Day. Hey, just in time to start the NAQCC Field Day Challenge!

N8XMS: This one took a lot of work but it was a lot of fun also.

K1YAN: For the first two weeks of June it seemed like everyone with an O in their call was on a different schedule than I was. K2OO started my roll and then everything fell into place.

N1HOB: I enjoyed this, my first, challenge. Having been to Normandy a couple years ago and having read much about it this had extra interest for me. I did miss the letters F & U, but that wasn't a comment about the challenge - just coincidence! 73

VE3FUJ: With the world Cup Soccer being on it was just too hard not watching it. So Ham radio Contests took second place this month. 72 Brion

PREMISE:
Operation Overlord, or the D-day invasion, began on 6 June 1944 with the deployment of 160,000 Allied troops. They landed on the beaches of Normandy, code named Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno and Sword, in an invasion that began a march across the continent that ultimately brought the end of WW II in Europe.
Overlord was done at the cost of over 9, 000 men of the Allied forces killed or wounded. We thank these men and their comrades, past and present, for their service and sacrifice. To read about D-day click here.
