The interest in QRP operating has spurred the offering of many kits and rigs over the years. They range from a single band, crystal controlled QRPp kit that fits in a mint tin (the Altoids alternative), analog single band rigs and even DDS vfo, multi band kit offerings. Here are some of them.
The first day of the month 0000Z through the last day of the month 2400Z
Simply make all the words in the list below from the call signs of stations you work to master the challenge. The comments in parenthesis and the "/ " in 2N2/XX are not part of the challenge. NO contest or sprint QSO's allowed QSO's must be made using CW and QRP.
2N2/XX (NORCAL - Various bands, analog VFO, 5W TX) ROCKMITE (SW LABS - Various bands, crystal control RX / TX, 500 mW) FIREFLY (HENDRICK'S QRP KITS - 30M SDR RX, VXO, 2.6 W) SIERRA (WILDERNESS RADIO - Multi band, plug in band modules, 3 W) POWERMITE (TEN TEC - 40 & 20M, DC RX, 2 W) FIREBALL 40 (NJ QRP CLUB - Various bands, crystal control, 40 mW) QRP PLUS (INDEX LABS - Multiband, 5 W) SUPER TUNA (QPR ME - Various bands, crystal control TX, 1.5 W) EXPLORER (OHIO RESEARCH - Various bands, analog VFO, 2 W) GLOWBUG 40 (GLOWBUG KITS - 40M TX, single tube, QRPp TO QRP output) AT SPRINT (KD1JV KITS - 4 Band, DDS VFO, 4 W)
The 86 total characters contain these 24 different letters and numbers: A B C E F G I K L M N O P Q R S T U W X Y 2 4 0
A certificate and Participation Point go to everyone making all the words and submitting their report before the deadline.
A Participation Point goes to everyone making at least 1, but not all words and submitting their report before the deadline.
A choice of an item made by master woodworker Gregg WB8LZG as shown on our prizes page here goes to someone selected via a random drawing from all who participate and submit a report for this month's challenge. A person can only win once, then they become ineligible for future drawings.
For your report, list the words you made and the station used for each letter in the word. The number of stations listed must be the same as the number of letters in each word, even though you use the same station for more than one letter as in:
WORD - K3WWP, N2OD, WA8REI, N2OD
Note how N2OD is listed for both the O and D.
You may also include comments about the challenge. Please preface any comments you want posted with "SOAPBOX:" so we will know what you want posted and what is private.

SM5MEK: This time it took me 23 calls and nine days to fill the whole list, but many more qso,s. Some of them was during my small trips out on the nature and operating portable with 3 - 5 W and my BCR.
G3JFS: Thanks to a large number of special event and /P calls in the log I finished this challenge more quickly than expected. Although there are a few small signs of improvement conditions are generally unstable and not great for qrp working. I fired up a 1 watt 40m tx in readiness for the original QRP Challenge planned for this month and struggled to make any contacts. The best that I did was 500 miles.
K3WWP: I thought this one sounded harder than it actually was. I attribute more time to get on the air as I move toward retirement as NAQCC VP plus very good conditions in the 2000-2200Z time frame that I have been able to get on the air. Although it's not a 100% DX calls solution, still a lot of the letters and numbers did come from DX stations as I continue my DX streak which as of September 7 when I finished the challenge stood at 556 straight days. Thanks to all who 'donated' letters and numbers to my solution. Now I need a 6 and a U to finish the European Chapter September challenge. I hope to get those tomorrow (Sept 8) - then including the Nancy challenge which I finished yesterday, I'll have all three done for the month. I sure do love these alphabet challenges. They are so much fun and so..... well, challenging, especially when one gets down to those last few letters/numbers.
N9SE: Kind of a let-down after they are done. Wish I could figure out a way to make it last longer
I5SKK: Nice to be on the air and to meet so many peoples in order to get calls and make this beautiful race with myself, nice to do all in QRP and CW, it's a pleasure indeed.
K1IEE:The bands sure made one wonder if this challenge would be finished in time. Just got to make it happen and its fun. Thanks to all 73 Dick
PA0XAW: Hard work after a 10 day's holiday in the UK. Nice call for me was II0IAML, good for 6 times the letter I, and 2 times the letter L! 7X4AN was new for me in using qrp, so a nice bonus! As a HEATHKIT fan, I mist this name in the challenge. Again great fun! Best 73, Age
K0ALN: Fun challenge... Love those 3X3 calls - especially when they have letters that count! Took a little patience, but finally got everything together. Had to wait for "R's" this time around. Most of the others seemed to be regularly available.
WU1V: Enjoyed the challenge which I finished on my 68th birthday. A really nice subject for this challenge. I'd never heard of any of those QRP rigs. Nice combination of DX and US stations contacted. This challenge took me 3 weeks of mostly play and very little effort. Always nice to see QRP sigs reaching from my MA QTH to the West Coast and to Europe, and down to South America. Greenland was a nice contact, as was Iceland. 72 all, de Rick
N8XMS: Well this was the 2nd month in a row that I struck out. Operating time was very limited again for most of the month and I only had one rig name completed going into the final week. My schedule then loosened up a little bit and I put in a good effort during the final week, getting 6 more rigs. So a little bit short but a lot of fun.
AB9YC: Lots of stuff going on this month, and I made many contacts, just not enough calls with strategic letters.
VE3FUJ: I enjoyed this Challenge, I had plenty of recorded calls, more so than most other times when I nearly complete the challenge. However, this time it was the " GLOBFIX " that fouled me up, just didn't get any. Brion
WY3H: Took me a while to get the final "P" and "Rs"ut final got them on 9/29. Fun, as usual. see you all in November.
