SOAPBOX:
K4WY - 160 always surprises! I did not work many stations but called a bunch. 1.811 and 1.822 were the watering holes for several qrp'ers
72
KY0Q - Worked the one station that I could hear well. An S6-7 noise floor and QRP makes things difficult!
VE3DQN - Slim pickins' tonight. Worked all I could hear, or that could hear me, for the hour I was on. Figured there were more out there, but the band was quiet for me.
WB1GYZ - Tonight, even the QRN was hard to copy.
WD4OHD - One QSO and I feel fortunate for that one, thanks to KJ4R. Virtually nothing heard on the band, largely due to QRN and QSB. QSB was particularly bad. KJ4R varied from 579 to 539, mostly the latter. Heard WG8Y briefly, I think, and K5TD in Louisiana in a QSO with someone else I couldn't hear. Decided to pull the plug early.
WG8Y - Hi all, I tried. I don't have a 160m antenna up this winter. So! This afternoon I took one end of my 40m Delta loop loose and pulled it out & tied up to a limb in the back yard. Still don't have a 160m antenna Hi Hi.
Worked Bob,WB8CAC,NC & a SKCC op,WB4iar,Ga . He was at 100W.
Had K5TD come back to me , I think. Then QSB.Heard a couple more but not gud copy. 807 Time Hi Hi. 72 all from N.C. Mark WG8Y.
KJ4R - Tough going tonight. Worked K5TD and WD4OHD, but after that 30 mins of calling CQ NA with nothing heard. Thanks Dan and Bob for the contacts and for keeping this one from being a shutout! 73 to all until next time.
K9NUD - Nice to hear a couple of signals tonight. Thanks Rick (KY0Q) and Duane (WI8J) for the contacts.
KE9DR - Called CQ the first hour, heard nil. 160 was dead here. Maybe better luck next time. Thanks to all. 72 KE9DR, Bert
N2TNN - Called CQ for 80 minutes and no takers. I could hear other stations but not much action
KA1DBE - Battled Noise and a less than optimal antenna. Appreciate everyone's patients that worked me. Thanks for the Qs in my first 160 meter sprint! 73/72 Jeff #1570
KF0TEE - I'm a relatively new member and this was my first NAQCC contest. I was hoping for some contacts but I have high electronics QRM at home. I called CQ NA every kHz from 1805 to 1815 from 0130Z to 0230Z Jan 29. I didn't hear any other signals, and got no replies. I was able to hear many stations in the CQ WW 160 last weekend. Maybe I was on the wrong night???
I'm quite sad but hoping for something better in the non-160 Sprints to come.
Jack
WI8J - IC-705 to a manual MFJ tuner to the 80m EFHW.
Thanks Steve (K9NUD) for my contact.
Heard a few but they couldn't hear me. 72 dd
KN2G - Tonight I used the IC 718 set to 5w with the QRPGuys wattmeter/ dummy load. I used my hb cootie made with a kitchen knife and guitar pick grips. I was a few minutes late getting home. I know it cost me a few early contacts before the band built a wall of static. It was a very satisfying evening calling and hunting. See you in couple weeks!
AA2VG - I was only able to get on the air with 40 minutes left. I just had to make one QSO to keep my 160 inverted L warm... Tnx Ken (KN2G) and Andy (W4NLT) for coming back to my CQ. Grabbed my KX3 tonight and had fun. I just forgot to plug in the straight key.
W4NLT - Lot of noise and QSB. Some stations started around 559 and dropped to the noise level. Was hard on my one good ear that works at a 50% level. Thanks for the QSOs 72 ANDY
WB9HFK - I spent about 1 1/4 Hours hanging around 1810 khz. Thanks to Dan, K5TD for my only QSO. Conditions poor to say the least.
72, Mark WB9HFK
K5TD - first time running this event, thanks for the QSOs
N7QR - 5th 160m, KX3, dipole over the house to the fence in the back to the speed limit sign in the front, not a thing heard for 1.5 hours, called on 1810 and 1830. Russ, Portland OR
N1BRL - used a very compromised antenna, Off Center feed Dipole only 24 ft high with the lower portion buried in 14 inches of snow and a remote tuner. Although I only heard 2 other stations it was fun and will try again.
Bart N1BRL
KA8VZB - It was an interesting evening here in Northern Virginia with the K Index at 5, the noise level running S4 plus the QSB. Mostly heard a few incomplete calls and numbers but did hear Don, VE3DQN, once with his call in the clear but then came the QSB and nothing else heard. My compromised antenna was a wire from the second floor shack to an outside water faucet making use of the copper plumbing in the house for my 160m antenna. Thanks to Andy, W4NLT, and Ken, KN2G, for my only QSOs of the night. 72, Joe
VE3IIM - Poor condx..did hear some weak ones calling, but no go..
KC3MIO - Tough going on 160. Heard more than I could work and there did not seem to be many ops on the band. Oh Well. 73 Rich
